Methadone Treatment
Methadone is the oldest medication approved for the treatment of opioid use disorder and - unfortunately - the most misunderstood and stigmatized as well. The evidence around the use of methadone in the treatment of opioid use disorder is indisputable: Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT) is the gold standard of care for individuals struggling with opioid pain killers and/or heroin. A stable dose of methadone does not get you "high;" it gets your NORMAL. Combined with counseling and basic medical care, a single daily dose of methadone can help you break the chains of opioid use disorder and start living again! GTC is the only licensed provider of methadone treatment for opioid use disorder in the Fannin, Gilmer, and Pickens Counties Region of North Georgia.
GTC offers both the liquid formulation of methadone ($11/day) as well as the dispersible tablet (Disket) formulation of methadone ($12/day). New patients are started on the liquid formulation, but once a stable dose is achieved medication formulation depends on the preference of the patient. Transfer patients from other opioid treatment programs are welcome, and your time in treatment will follow you. As long as we can document time in treatment, necessary drug screens, and other information necessary to ensure you meet the 8 point criteria for take-home medication, all your take-homes should follow you from your former clinic on Day 1 of treatment with GTC.
